Born: c. 1509 Died: 24 October 1537 (complications from childbirth) Birthplace: England Best known as: The 3rd wife of King Henry VIII Jane Seymour was the third wife of King Henry VIII of England. She was a lady-in-waiting to both of Henry's first two wives, Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn. Seymour married Henry on 30 May 1536 (11 days after Boleyn's execution) and bore him a son, the future Edward VI, the next year. Edward VI lived only to age 16 and was King from 1547-53. He was succeeded by the famous nine-day reign of Lady Jane Grey. Seymour is buried with Henry VIII at Windsor Castle, the only one of Henry's wives to be buried with him. Extra credit: Seymour shares a name with popular actress Jane Seymour, a connection which is coincidental. Copyright © 1998-2006 by Who2?, LLC. All rights reserved.
