Now the critically-acclaimed and serious leading man of the films Brick and The Lookout, Joseph Gordon-Levitt spent his teen years co-starring in six-seasons of the wacky TV sitcom 3rd Rock From the Sun (1996-2001). Gordon-Levitt's filmography as a child actor dates to the late 1980s and includes roles in the feature films A River Runs Through It (1992, directed by Robert Redford) and Angels in the Outfield (1994). While appearing in the TV hit 3rd Rock, he also worked in feature films, getting knocked off early in Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998, starring Josh Hartnett) and setting things in motion as a lovelorn teen in 10 Things I Hate About You (1999, starring Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles). He also starred in 2001's Manic, demonstrating acting chops that would later earn him raves for Mysterious Skin (2004), Brick (2005, directed by Rian Johnson), Shadowboxer (2005, with Helen Mirren), The Lookout (2007), (500) Days of Summer (2009, opposite Zooey Deschanel) Inception (2010, starring Leonardo DiCaprio), The Dark Knight Rises (2012, starring Christian Bale) and Looper (2012, with Bruce Willis). Gordon-Levitt also wrote and directed the 2013 comedy Don Jon (with Scarlett Johansson).
