David Tennant has been a familiar face on U.K. television screens since the early 2000's, but he's perhaps best known as the "tenth Doctor Who," from the cult-fave TV show, a part he played from 2005 to 2013. Raised in Scotland, Tennant got his early training as a teenager, with the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. His professional career began on the stage, and much of his work since then has been in live theater, especially performing Shakespeare. David Tennant has appeared in dozens of TV shows, and beyond being Doctor Who, he's known for Blackpool (2004), the Casanova miniseries (2005), and, more recently, as tortured policeman Alec Hardy in Broadchurch (2013-17). Tennant's film roles include Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Much Ado About Nothing (2011), Fright Night (the 2011 remake with Colin Farrell), Bad Samaritan (2018) and Mary Queen of Scots (2018, starring Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie).
