Brian EnoComposer / Music Producer
Born: 15 May 1948
Birthplace: Woodbridge, East Anglia, England
Best known as: Producer of ambient and avant-garde music
Name at birth: Brian Peter George St. John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno
Brian Eno co-founded art-rock band Roxy Music in the early 1970s, then embarked on his own recording career as a performer and, more importantly, a producer. His experiments with synthesizers made Eno a pioneer in electronic "ambient" music, but Eno has also collaborated with big-time rock artists such as Robert Fripp, David Bowie, The Talking Heads (especially David Byrne), Devo, U2 and Coldplay. An avant-garde-pop artist in video, computers and music, he has also had commercial success as a producer and his music is often heard in movies and television commercials. His albums include Here Come the Warm Jets (1973), Discreet Music (1975), Music For Airports (1978), Thursday Afternoon (1985), Nerve Net (1992) and Small Craft on a Milk Sea (2010).
