WILLIAMS, John McKeown
Snow, a Representative from Massachusetts; born in Richmond,
Henrico County, Va., August 13, 1818; moved to Boston, Mass.;
attended the public schools; engaged in mercantile pursuits and was
also a shipowner; member of the State house of representatives in
1856; served in the State senate in 1858; elected as a Republican
to the Forty-third Congress (March 4, 1873-March 3, 1875);
unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1874 to the Forty-fourth
Congress; resumed his former business pursuits; died in Cambridge,
Middlesex County, Mass., March 19, 1886; interment in Mount Auburn
Cemetery.
