WALLACE, Rodney, a
Representative from Massachusetts; born in New Ipswich,
Hillsborough County, N.H., December 21, 1823; attended the common
schools; engaged in the manufacture of paper; was a member of the
select council of Fitchburg, Mass., in 1864, 1865, and 1867; served
in the State house of representatives in 1873; member of the
Governor’s council 1880-1882; elected as a Republican to the
Fifty-first Congress (March 4, 1889-March 3, 1891); was not a
candidate for renomination in 1890 to the Fifty-second Congress;
again engaged in the manufacture of paper; died in Fitchburg,
Worcester County, Mass., on February 27, 1903; interment in Laurel
Hill Cemetery.
