professor at California Institute of Technology, Pasadena,
1938-1940, 1941-1946; professor at Stanford University, Stanford,
Calif., 1940-1941; member of the Brawley, Calif., School District
Board, 1955-1962; member of the Imperial Valley College Board,
Imperial, Calif., 1960-1962; advisory commission, United States
Department of Agriculture, 1959-1963; member of the California
state assembly, 1963-1971; delegate, Republican National
Convention, 1972; elected as a Republican to the Ninety-second and
to the Ninety-third Congresses (January 3, 1971-January 3, 1975);
unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Ninety-fourth Congress
in 1974; Assistant Secretary for Civil Works, United States Army,
1975-1977; secretary for industrial relations, State of California,
1983; died on February 13, 2001, in Hemet, Calif.; interment at
Riverview Cemetery, Brawley, Calif.
