TREADWAY, Allen Towner, a
Representative from Massachusetts; was born in Stockbridge,
Berkshire County, Mass., on September 16, 1867; attended the public
schools, and was graduated from Amherst (Mass.) College in 1886;
engaged in the hotel business; member of the State house of
representatives in 1904; member of the State senate 1908-1911, and
served as president 1909-1911; elected as a Republican to the
Sixty-third and to the fifteen succeeding Congresses (March 4,
1913-January 3, 1945); was not a candidate for renomination in
1944; resided in Stockbridge, Mass., and Washington, D.C.; died in
Washington, D.C., February 16, 1947; interment in Stockbridge
Cemetery, Stockbridge, Mass.
