George Washington TOLAND

(1796-1869)

TOLAND, George Washington, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Philadelphia, Pa., February 8, 1796; attended the common schools; was graduated from Princeton College in 1816; held several local offices; elected as a Whig to the Twenty-fifth, Twenty-sixth, and Twenty-seventh Congresses (March 4, 1837-March 3, 1843); died in Philadelphia, Pa., January 30, 1869; interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
