TAUKE, Thomas Joseph, a Representative from Iowa; born in Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa, October 11, 1950; attended the Dubuque County private schools; graduated from Wahlert High School, 1968; B.A., Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa, 1972; J.D., University of Iowa College of Law, Iowa City, Iowa, 1974; admitted to the Iowa bar, 1974; lawyer, private practice; member of the Iowa general assembly, 1975-1978; delegate, Iowa state Republican conventions, 1972-1978; delegate, Republican National Convention, 1976; elected as a Republican to the Ninety-sixth and to the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1979-January 3, 1991); was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Second Congress in 1990, but was an unsuccessful nominee for the United States Senate; public policy consultant; president, communications equipment marketing company; is a resident of Alexandria, Va.
