Charles Andrew TALCOTT

(1857-1920)

TALCOTT, Charles Andrew, a Representative from New York; born in Oswego, Oswego County, N.Y., June 10, 1857; attended the public schools and Utica Free Academy; was graduated from Princeton University in 1879; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1881 and commenced practice in Utica, N.Y.; clerk of the city court 1881-1883; city counsel of Utica in 1886; member of the board of police and fire commissioners 1888-1892; trustee of the Utica Public Library 1893-1901; mayor of the city of Utica 1902-1906; elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-second and Sixty-third Congresses (March 4, 1911-March 3, 1915); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1914 to the Sixty-fourth Congress; engaged in the practice of law until his death in Utica, N.Y., February 27, 1920; interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.
