STARR, John Farson, a
Representative from New Jersey; born in Philadelphia, Pa., March
25, 1818; completed preparatory studies; moved to Camden, N.J., in
1844; one of the founders of the Camden Iron Works; engaged in
mercantile pursuits; president of the First National Bank of Camden
for over thirty years, up to the time of his death; elected as a
Republican to the Thirty-eighth and Thirty-ninth Congresses (March
4, 1863-March 3, 1867); was not a candidate for renomination in
1866; died in Atlantic City, N.J., August 9, 1904; interment in
Harleigh Cemetery, Camden, N.J.
