SEGER, George Nicholas, a
Representative from New Jersey; born in New York City January 4,
1866; attended the public schools; settled in Passaic, N.J., in
1899 and engaged in the building business; member of the board of
education of Passaic 1906-1911; mayor of Passaic 1911-1919;
delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1916; president
of the New Jersey League of Municipalities in 1917 and 1918; city
director of finance 1919-1923; member of the Council of National
Defense during the First World War; elected as a Republican to the
Sixty-eighth and to the eight succeeding Congresses and served from
March 4, 1923, until his death in Washington, D.C., on August 26,
1940; interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y.
