United States Representative Tom DeLay of Texas, 1985-1986; staff,
United States Representative Henry Hyde of Illinois, 1986-1987;
teacher; businessman; member of the Illinois house of
representatives, 1993-1999; member of the Illinois senate,
2000-2006; unsuccessful candidate for the Republican nomination for
the United States House of Representatives in 1998; elected as a
Republican to the One Hundred Tenth and to the two succeeding
Congresses (January 3, 2007-present).
