REED, William, a
Representative from Massachusetts; born in Marblehead, Mass., June
6, 1776; received a limited education; engaged in mercantile
pursuits; elected as a Federalist to the Twelfth and Thirteenth
Congresses (March 4, 1811-March 3, 1815); member of the board of
the Andover Theological Seminary; trustee of Dartmouth College,
Hanover, N.H.; resumed mercantile pursuits; died in Marblehead,
Essex County, Mass., February 18, 1837; interment in a private
burying ground on Harris Street.
