PRINCE, William, a
Representative from Indiana; born in Ireland in 1772; immigrated to
the United States and settled in Indiana; studied law; served in
the State senate in 1816; delegate to the State constitutional
convention in 1816; served as captain in the Battle of Tippecanoe;
member of the State house of representatives in 1821 and 1822; was
elected as a Republican to the Eighteenth Congress and served from
March 4, 1823, until his death near Princeton, Gibson County, Ind.,
September 8, 1824; interment in the Old Cemetery, near Princeton,
Ind.
