PIPER, William, a
Representative from Pennsylvania; born at Bloody Run (now Everett),
Bedford County, Pa., January 1, 1774; commanded a regiment during
the War of 1812; adjutant general of Pennsylvania after the war;
elected as a Republican to the Twelfth, Thirteenth, and Fourteenth
Congresses (March 4, 1811-March 3, 1817); died in Hopewell
Township, near Everett, Pa., in 1852; interment in the Piper
Cemetery on his farm in Hopewell Township.
