PALMER, John William, a
Representative from Missouri; born on a farm near Macks Creek,
Camden County, Mo., August 20, 1866; attended the local schools;
taught school in Hickory County, Mo.; engaged in the drug business
at Cross Timbers, Hickory County, Mo., in 1888 and in the general
merchandise business at Climax Springs, Camden County, Mo.,
1891-1909; attended the University Medical College at Kansas City,
Mo., in 1894 and 1895; practiced medicine in Climax Springs
1895-1908; attended the law school of Lincoln-Jefferson University,
Hammond, Ind., in 1896; was admitted to the bar in 1897 and
commenced the practice of law in Climax Springs, Mo.; served as
representative in the Fortieth and Forty-first General Assemblies
of Missouri 1898-1902; moved to Linn Creek, Mo., in 1909;
prosecuting attorney of Camden County 1909-1915; moved to Sedalia,
Mo., in 1915 and continued the practice of law; unsuccessful
candidate for State senator in 1904; elected as a Republican to the
Seventy-first Congress (March 4, 1929-March 3, 1931); unsuccessful
candidate for reelection in 1930 to the Seventy-second Congress,
for election in 1931 to fill a vacancy in the Seventy-second
Congress, and for election in 1932 to the Seventy-third Congress;
resumed the practice of law; died in Sedalia, Mo., November 3,
1958; interment in Crown Hill Cemetery.
