D., University of Texas School of Law, Austin, Tex., 1988; United States Navy, 1988-1997; United States Naval Reserve, 1998-present; aide to United States Senator Phil Gramm, 1998-2002; aide to United States Senator John Cornyn, 2002-2007; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Eleventh Congress and to the succeeding Congress (January 3, 2009-present).
