McCREERY William , a Representative from Maryland; born in the Province of Ulster, Ireland, in 1750; received a limited education; immigrated to the United States in his youth and located in Maryland; engaged in agricultural pursuits; elected as a Republican to the Eighth and to the two succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1803-March 3, 1809); chair, Committee on Commerce (Second Congress); resumed agricultural pursuits; member of the State senate from September 1811 until his death at his country home, ``Clover Hill,'' near Reisterstown, Baltimore County, Md., March 8, 1814; interment in Old Saint Paul's Cemetery, Baltimore, Baltimore County, Md.
