MAXWELL, George Clifford,
(father of John Patterson Bryan Maxwell), a Representative from New
Jersey; born in Sussex County, N.J., on May 31, 1771; was graduated
from Princeton College in 1792; studied law; was admitted to the
bar in 1797 and practiced in Hunterdon County, N.J.; elected as a
Republican to the Twelfth Congress (March 4, 1811-March 3, 1813);
resumed the practice of law in Flemington, N.J., where he died
March 16, 1816; interment in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Raritan
Township, Hunterdon County, N.J.
