John Hartwell MARABLE, Congress, TN (1786-1844)

MARABLE John Hartwell , a Representative from Tennessee; born near Lawrenceville, Brunswick County, Va., November 18, 1786; pursued an academic course; studied medicine in Philadelphia, Pa., and practiced; moved to Yellow Creek, Tenn., and engaged in the practice of medicine; member of the state senate in 1817 and 1818; elected as a Jacksonian to the Nineteenth and Twentieth Congresses (March 4, 1825-March 3, 1829); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Twenty-first Congress; resumed the practice of medicine; died in Montgomery County, Tenn., April 11, 1844; interment in Marable Cemetery, near Clarksville, Tenn.
