LEAKE, Eugene Walter, a
Representative from New Jersey; born in Jersey City, N.J., July 13,
1877; attended the public schools and Phillips Academy, Andover,
Mass.; graduated from New York Law School in 1898; was admitted to
the New Jersey bar in 1898 and commenced practice in Jersey City,
N.J.; was admitted to the New York bar in 1908 and practiced in New
York City; elected as a Democrat to the Sixtieth Congress (March 4,
1907-March 3, 1909); was not a candidate for renomination in 1908;
general counsel for the Adams Express Co., 1927-1932; in 1931 was
elected chairman of the board of directors of the American Railway
Express Co.; director of Loew’s, Inc.; died in New York City
August 23, 1959; interment in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson,
N.J.
