LEACH, Anthony Claude, Jr., a Representative from Louisiana; born in Leesville, Vernon Parish, La., March 30, 1934; attended the public schools of Louisiana; B.S., Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, 1955; served in the United States Army, 1956-1959; J.D., Louisiana State University Law School, Baton Rouge, La., 1963; admitted to the Louisiana bar in 1964 and commenced practice in Leesville; served in the Louisiana house of representatives, 1967-1978; elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-sixth Congress (January 3, 1979-January 3, 1981); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1980 to the Ninety-seventh Congress; member, Louisiana house of representatives, 1984-1988; unsuccessful candidate for governor of Louisiana in 2003; is a resident of Leesville, La.
