unsuccessful candidate for the One Hundred Sixth Congress in 1998;
unsuccessful candidate for the One Hundred Seventh Congress in
2000; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Eighth and to the
four succeeding Congress (January 3, 2003-present); chair,
Committee on Education and the Workforce (One Hundred Twelfth
Congress).
