Adam KING, Congress, PA (1783-1835)

KING Adam , a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in York, Pa., January 20, 1783; pursued academic studies; studied medicine in the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia and commenced practice in York; edited and published the York Gazette 1818-1835; clerk of the courts of York County 1818-1826; elected to the Twentieth Congress and reelected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-first and Twenty-second Congresses (March 4, 1827-March 3, 1833); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1832 to the Twenty-third Congress; resumed the practice of medicine; died in York, York County, Pa., May 6, 1835; interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
