JONES, Ben, a
Representative from Georgia; born in Tarboro, Edgecombe County,
N.C., August 30, 1941; graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School,
Portsmouth, Va., 1959; attended the University of North Carolina,
Chapel Hill, N.C., 1961-1964; professional entertainer;
unsuccessful candidate for election to the One Hundredth Congress
in 1986; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred First and to the
succeeding Congress (January 3, 1989-January 3, 1993); unsuccessful
candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Third Congress in 1992;
unsuccessful candidate for election to the One Hundred Eighth
Congress in Virginia in 2002.
