JENIFER, Daniel of St.
Thomas, (uncle of Daniel Jenifer), a Delegate from Maryland;
born in Charles County, Md., in 1723; member of the provincial
court in 1766; member of the Governor’s council in 1773;
member and president of the council of safety 1775-1777; president
of the State senate 1777-1780; Member of the Continental Congress
1779-1781, also of the convention that framed the Federal
Constitution, and a signer of that instrument on September 17,
1787; unsuccessful candidate for Governor of Maryland in 1782 and
1785; died in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, Md., November 16,
1790.
