HAMILTON, Andrew Holman, a
Representative from Indiana; born in Fort Wayne, Ind., June 7,
1834; attended the common schools and was graduated from Wabash
College, Crawfordsville, Ind., in 1854; studied law at Harvard
University; was admitted to the bar in 1859 and commenced practice
in Fort Wayne, Ind.; elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fourth and
Forty-fifth Congresses (March 4, 1875-March 3, 1879); resumed the
practice of law; died in Fort Wayne, Ind., May 9, 1895; interment
in Lindenwood Cemetery.
