HALLOWELL, Edwin, a
Representative from Pennsylvania; born near Willow Grove, Abington
Township, Montgomery County, Pa., April 2, 1844; attended the
public schools; engaged in agricultural pursuits; member of the
State house of representatives 1876-1879; chairman of the
Democratic county committee of Montgomery County in 1886; delegate
to the Democratic National Convention in 1888; elected as a
Democrat to the Fifty-second Congress (March 4, 1891-March 3,
1893); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1892 to the
Fifty-third Congress; resumed agricultural pursuits; died in
Abington, Pa., September 13, 1916; interment in Abington Friends
Burying Ground, Jenkintown, Pa.
