John GEBHARD

(1782-1854)

GEBHARD, John, a Representative from New York; born in Claverack, Columbia County, N.Y., February 22, 1782; attended the public schools; studied law; was admitted to the bar and practiced; surrogate of Schoharie County 1811-1813, and again from 1815 to 1822; elected as Federalist to the Seventeenth Congress (March 4, 1821-March 3, 1823); resumed the practice of law; died in Schoharie, N.Y., January 3, 1854; interment in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.
