FULTON, Richard Harmon, a
Representative from Tennessee; born in Nashville, Davidson County,
Tenn., January 27, 1927; graduated from the public schools of
Nashville and attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville;
served in the United States Navy in 1945 and 1946; member, State
senate, 1958-1960; engaged in business and was a real estate
broker; delegate, Democratic National Convention, 1964; elected as
a Democrat to the Eighty-eighth and reelected to the six succeeding
Congresses and served from January 3, 1963, until his resignation
August 14, 1975; mayor, Metropolitan Government of Nashville and
Davidson County, Tenn., August 14, 1975, to October 5, 1987;
unsuccessful candidate for nomination in 1978 and 1986 in the
Tennessee gubernatorial primary; established private firm in
governmental relations; is a resident of Nashville, Tenn.
