FITZGERALD, Peter G., a Senator from Illinois; born on October 20, 1960, in Elgin, Illinois, and raised in Inverness, Illinois; attended St. Theresa Catholic Elementary School in Palatine, Illinois, and Portsmouth Abbey, a Catholic secondary school in Portsmouth, Rhode Island; A.B., Dartmouth College 1982, graduating cum laude; Rotary Scholar, Aristotelian University, Greece 1982-1983; J.D., University of Michigan School of Law 1986; practiced as a corporate lawyer in Chicago; general counsel for Suburban Bancorp, Inc.; Illinois state senator 1993-1998; elected as a Republican to the U.S. Senate in 1998 and served from January 3, 1999, to January 3, 2005; was not a candidate for reelection in 2004; currently serves on the North American Advisory Board of the Transurban Group and on the Advisory Board to Financial Services Partners Fund I, LLC; currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Chain Bridge Bank in McLean, Virginia; is a resident of McLean, Virginia.
