DAVIES, Edward, a
Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Churchtown, Caernarvon
Township, Lancaster County, Pa., in November 1779; attended the
rural schools; engaged in agricultural and mercantile pursuits;
member of the Pennsylvania state house of representatives,
1834-1835; elected as an Anti-Masonic candidate to the Twenty-fifth
and to the succeeding Congress (March 4, 1837-March 3, 1841);
resumed his former business activities; died on May 17, 1853, in
Churchtown, Pa.; interment in Bangor Episcopal Churchyard,
Churchtown, Pa.
