Litton, 1973-1976; federal co-chair, Ozarks Regional Commission, 1977-1981; member, State senate, 1983-1993; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Third and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1993-January 3, 2001); was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Seventh Congress.
