CROCKER, Samuel Leonard, a
Representative from Massachusetts; born in Taunton, Mass., March
31, 1804; was graduated from Brown University, Providence, R.I., in
1822; engaged in manufacturing; member of the executive council of
Massachusetts in 1849; elected as a Whig to the Thirty-third
Congress (March 4, 1853-March 3, 1855); unsuccessful candidate for
reelection in 1854 to the Thirty-fourth Congress; president of the
Taunton Copper Manufacturing Co.; died in Boston, Mass., February
10, 1883; interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Taunton, Bristol
County, Mass.
