COMBEST, Larry Ed, a
Representative from Texas; born in Memphis, Hall County, Tex.,
March 20, 1945; West Texas State University, Canyon, Tex., 1969;
farmer; director, Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation
Service of the United States Department of Agriculture, 1971;
legislative assistant to United States Senator John Tower of Texas,
1971-1978; business owner; elected as a Republican to the
Ninety-ninth and to the nine succeeding Congresses, and served
until his resignation on May 31, 2003 (January 3, 1985-May 31,
2003); chair, Select Committee on Intelligence (One Hundred Fourth
Congress); chair, Committee on Agriculture (One Hundred Sixth and
One Hundred Seventh Congresses).
