CHASE, Lucien Bonaparte, a
Representative from Tennessee; born in Derby Line, Vt., December 5,
1817; moved to Dover, Tenn., about 1838 and taught school; studied
law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Charlotte,
Dickson County, Tenn.; moved to Clarksville, Tenn., and resumed the
practice of law; elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-ninth and
Thirtieth Congresses (March 4, 1845-March 3, 1849); declined to be
a candidate for reelection in 1848; moved to New York City in 1849;
resumed the practice of law; died in Derby Line, Orleans County,
Vt., December 4, 1864; interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn,
N.Y.
