CASTLE, Michael Newbold, a
Representative from Delaware; born in Wilmington, New Castle
County, Del., July 2, 1939; graduate of Tower Hill School,
Wilmington, Del., 1957; B.S., Hamilton College, Clinton, N.Y.,
1961; LL.B., Georgetown University School of Law, Washington, D.C.,
1964; lawyer, private practice; deputy attorney general of
Delaware, 1965-1966; member of the Delaware state house of
representatives, 1966-1967; member of the Delaware state senate,
1968-1976; Lieutenant Governor of Delaware, 1981-1985; Governor of
Delaware, 1985-1992; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred
Third and to the eight succeeding Congresses (January 3,
1993-January 3, 2011); not a candidate for relection in 2010, but
was an unsuccessful nominee to the United States Senate.
