CANNON, Arthur Patrick
(Pat), a Representative from Florida; born in Powder
Springs, Cobb County, Ga., May 22, 1904; moved to Laurens County,
S.C.; attended the public schools, Wofford College, Spartanburg,
S.C., and John B. Stetson University, De Land, Fla.; was graduated
from the law college of the University of Miami, Miami, Fla., in
1931; was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice
in Miami; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-sixth and to the
three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1939-January 3, 1947);
unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1946; resumed the
practice of law; elected circuit judge of Dade County, Fla., in
1952, reelected in 1954, and again in 1960 for a six-year term; was
a resident of Miami, Fla., until his death there on January 23,
1966; interment in Woodlawn Park Cemetery, Miami, Fla.
