BUGG, Robert Malone, a
Representative from Tennessee; born in Boydton, Mecklenburg County,
Va., January 20, 1805; attended the public schools; moved to
Tennessee and settled in Williamson County in 1825, where he taught
school for several years; moved to Giles County and engaged in
agricultural pursuits; justice of the peace in 1840; member of the
State house of representatives in 1851 and 1852; elected as a Whig
to the Thirty-third Congress (March 4, 1853-March 3, 1855);
declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1854; resumed
agricultural pursuits; served in the State senate in 1871 and 1872;
died in Lynnville, Giles County, Tenn., February 18, 1887;
interment in McLaurine Cemetery, near Lynnville, Tenn.
