Joseph BUFFUM, Jr., Congress, NH (1784-1874)

BUFFUM Joseph, Jr. , a Representative from New Hampshire; born in Fitchburg, Mass., September 23, 1784; attended the public schools and the local academy; was graduated from Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H., in 1806; studied law and practiced in Westmoreland and Keene, N.H.; elected as a Republican to the Sixteenth Congress (March 4, 1819-March 3, 1821); appointed judge of the court of common pleas on January 21, 1825; engaged in agricultural pursuits; died in Westmoreland, Cheshire County, N.H., February 24, 1874; interment in South Village Cemetery.
