Massachusetts Army National Guard 1979-present, attaining the rank
of lieutenant colonel, and serving in the Judge Advocate Generals
Corps; lawyer, private practice; Wrentham, Mass., selectman
1995-1998; member of the Massachusetts state house of
representatives 1999-2004; member of the Massachusetts state senate
2004-2010; elected to the United States Senate in the January 19,
2010, special election to the term ending January 3, 2013, a seat
previously held by appointed Senator Paul G. Kirk, and took the
oath of office on February 4, 2010.
