Representative from Georgia; born in Atlanta, Fulton County, Ga.;
May 14, 1946; United States Marine Corps Reserve, 1964-1967; B. S.,
University of Georgia, Athens, Ga., 1967; M. D., Medical College of
Georgia, Augusta, Ga., 1971; physician; elected as a Republican to
the One Hundred Tenth Congress, by special election, to fill the
vacancy caused by the death of United States Representative Charles
Norwood, and to the two succeeding Congresses (July 17,
2007-present).
