BOWEN, John H., a
Representative from Tennessee; born in Washington County, Va., in
September 1780; attended the schools of Lexington, Ky.; studied
law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Gallatin,
Tenn.; elected as a Republican to the Thirteenth Congress (March 4,
1813-March 3, 1815); engaged in the practice of law in Gallatin,
Sumner County, Tenn., until his death there September 25, 1822.
