(son of James Glenn Beall), a Representative and a Senator from
Maryland; born in Cumberland, Allegany County, Md., June 19, 1927;
graduated Yale University 1950; served in the United States Navy
1945-1946; member, general insurance firm of Beall, Garner &
Geare, Inc.; elected to Maryland house of delegates in 1962 and
reelected in 1966; minority floor leader 1963-1968; elected as a
Republican to the Ninety-first Congress (January 3, 1969-January 3,
1971); was not a candidate for reelection; was elected in 1970 as a
Republican to the United States Senate and served from January 3,
1971, to January 3, 1977; unsuccessful candidate for reelection in
1976; unsuccessful candidate in 1978 for election as Governor of
Maryland; resumed the insurance business in Cumberland, Md.; was a
resident of Frostburg, Md. until his death on March 24, 2006;
interment in Frostburg Memorial Park.
