ATKINS, Chester Greenough,
a Representative from Massachusetts; born in Geneva, Switzerland,
April 14, 1948; was graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School,
Concord, Mass., in 1966 and Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio,
in 1970; member of the Massachusetts house of representatives
1970-1971 and the State senate 1972-1984; chairman of the
Massachusetts Democratic State Committee 1977-1990; elected as a
Democrat to the Ninety-ninth and to the three succeeding Congresses
(January 3, 1985-January 3, 1993); unsuccessful candidate for
renomination to the One Hundred Third Congress in 1992; is a
resident of Concord, Mass.
