The son of an actress and drama teacher, MacFadyen is well known for his work in British theater productions and on British television, especially for his role as Tom Quinn the on BAFTA Award-winning series Spooks. He is best known to American audiences for his role opposite Keira Knightly in the 2005 adaptation of Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice.
