Jordin Sparks has been singing since she was 18 months old,
according to her family, expressing herself in music before she even
learned to talk. A talent-show competitor for years before landing on
American Idol, Jordin sang for America’s Most Talented Kids, Star Search,
and Junior Idol, as well as various stage productions. At 12 she was named
the Coca-Cola Rising Star at the Arizona State Fair, also the year she
began dreaming of competing in American Idol. Four years later she was old
enough to compete, and that season became the show’s youngest winner, at
17.
