Best Known as: patriarch of Osmond Brothers singing group
Patriarch of the Osmond Brothers singing group and the performers Donny and Marie Osmond. George and his wife, Olive, married in 1944, and had nine children, many of whom became singing stars. Alan, Wayne, Merrill, and Jay Osmond formed a barbershop quartet known as the Osmond Brothers, performing at Disneyland and on “The Andy Williams Show.” Donny joined the group at age 6 and later co-hosted “The Donny and Marie Show” with his sister. George was a World War II veteran, who later worked in real estate, insurance sales, and as a postmaster. He eventually managed the singing careers of his children full-time.
